Growth Hack Innovation Challenge (from 1, 2 to 5 days)

Categories: ,

Growth hacking is a process of rapid experimentation across marketing channels and product development to identify the most effective, efficient ways to grow a business.

It refers to a set of both conventional and unconventional marketing experiments that lead to growth of a business.

Growth hacks are designed to achieve practical outcomes in a short space of time to solve real world problems like increase sales, engagements and followers.  This methodology is applied to a 2 day (usually but it can be a longer or shorter duration and a structure that suits you) growth hack where entrepreneurs/founders and/or participants work on problems posed by businesses, industry and organisations.  In doing so participants develop in demand skills that enable them to assist future employers to rapidly and sustainably grow their organisations, small businesses, startups and scaleups, get tasks done in a few hours or days.

Growth hack challenges could cover:

  1. Branding and marketing
  2. Digital presence and productivity
  3. Networks and connections
  4. Products, services and packages
  5. Social media and sales
  6. STEM and technical solutions
  7. Website and videos, blogs and online shop

Approach and Facilitators

The format is flexible as it is based upon participants helping businesses (their own or others) with very practical tasks and outcomes, where the goal is to achieve what you would usually think would take months!

A growth hack can involve primary and high schools, VET and Higher Education providers, and Universities where many of the students prefer to learn in not so traditional ways, allowing development and demonstration of skills that many employers are in need of, building confidence and providing experiences that students can use on their resumes or in job interviews to showcase themselves in a positive way.

Teams can be from one business or school and/or mixed across businesses, associations and networks or schools and it is in the 'hustle' session where participants choose what they want to work on once hearing all the challenges (posed by video or face to face).

Participants work to get their solutions and fixes as far as possible over a two day format with pitching at the end of day 2.  Alternatively it can be run face to face or hybrid, and the 2 days can be spread out rather than run back to back.

A keynote on ‘Pitching, Presenting and Persuasive Public Speaking’ often forms part of the program which helps students and teams shape up their pitches for the finale.

Pitching is important 21st Century capability and is presented by an award-winning pitch coach and entrepreneur, Scott Perry.  Scott will also work with teams as a mentor and has facilitated many of these ‘growth hack’ types of events and programs in the past.

Host/MC duties will be undertaken by Wendy Perry, Managing Director, Workforce BluePrint.  Wendy will also manage program design, supporting participants, mentoring and planning activities including working alongside industry and event partners.

Workforce BluePrint is involved in the design and facilitation of many growth hacks and our team members have significant experience running similar events across Australia and overseas, with high school and primary school, VET and University students, businesses and industry, entrepreneurs and startups.
